My cat Poubelle died in his sleep yesterday. I found him all curled up on a comforter in my son's room, and I spoke to him like always. He didn't move at all, so when I spoke again, and he still didn't move, I knew. I am totally devastated, and trying to keep it together. My husband and I got Poubelle less than a month after moving in together, and that was almost 15 years ago. Seems like there has always been the 3 of us! I have another cat, Chaussette, who will be 14 in February, and a dog, Diva who is only 16 months old. I let them both see Poubelle, but I guess only time will tell how they will react. My son, bless him, seemed to realize very quickly that as sad as he was, I was worse. Going to bed last night was brutal...Poubelle has always slept with us, usually falling asleep after groooming my hair, then my husband's, then settling between us on the pillow.
I'm not sure what purpose this email will serve, but I needed to "talk" to those who feel this type of loss the way I do.
He was a beautiful beautiful boy, and I miss him.
