Losing a beloved furbaby is never, ever an easy thing and I really want you to know that you are NOT stupid or being silly. These precious little souls have such a deep impact on our lives - I'm sure that Ralf was a big part of every holiday and event that went on in your household, even just the day to day events. When we lose them, our whole world really does change and we have to figure out how to live all over again, without their physical presence. I really hope you will think about calling a hotline, or emailing me. It can be very helpful just to be able to talk to someone who understands how you are feeling Melissa, and helpful not to feel so alone.
While I don't know your husband, he is probably missing Ralf and grieving in his own way. Men do tend to grieve differently than women but it doesn't mean that he is uncaring. Each relationship, whether with a 2-legged or 4-legged member of the family is unique and different. It may help you to understand better what he is going through if you read the following article on the griefhealing.com website. Please know that I am here if you want to talk, Melissa, and that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.
Thinking of you,
Terry
