I am so sorry to hear that you have been affected personally by the pet food recall. It is a tragic, tragic thing and there are no words that I can say that can really make this any better for you, but please know that we are here if you need to talk.
As for telling your 3 year old son about what is happening, there are several good books that you can read to a child - some/most of which you can get from amazon.ca or, if you are nearby, we could arrange to meet so that I can loan them to you (generally we only lend out books at our meetings but the next one is not until May 26).
