Last weekend our FIV+ cat who has always been amazingly healthy with normal blood profile suddenly stopped eating. I took him to the vet and his liver enzimes are in the 700s up from a normal high of 125. To make matters worse, we are going away for a holiday on Sunday. I have decided to leave him at the vet to see if he responds to the antibiotics and appitite increasing drugs. The vet feels the odds are 50-50 there will be any improvement.
We are devestated so soon after loosing Cobra. Has anyone dealt with liver failure? Should we put him to asleep tomorrow so we can be with him or should we see if the medications kick in? He has only been on them a couple days. He is a lovely cat who totally trusts us and I wish I knew what is the best decision now.
