My heart goes out to you on the loss of your beloved Brandy and I am so sorry that it was her food that was recalled.
Unfortunately, every one deals with death in a different way. For some people, getting another pet is the answer. For others, they need time to grieve and to open their hearts to love again. I hope that you can let your husband know how you feel right now. Perhaps in a while, you will want to have another pet and a little time may make all the difference.
I don't know where you are located geographically Catherine, but if there is a support group near you (I can help you look for one if you email me with your location), it may be beneficial for you to talk to them on the telephone or to attend meeting(s). While not everyone is the same, we have had people at our meetings who has loved and lost their beloved pets and being able to talk about them with others who understand really does help their hearts to heal.
